A rainstorm which swept through some part of the Kassena Nankana
West district has ripped off the roofs of some school buildings in the area.
Affected schools include Tazika, Nakolo Junior High schools and China Primary
school.
Fortunately no deaths or injuries were recorded. However the incident
affected teaching and learning in the various schools.
The MP for Chiana Paga
constituency of the Kassena Nakana West District, Rudolf Nsorwinne Ameng-ego,
donated three packets of roofing sheets and quantities of roofing nails to the
various schools.
The spokesperson for the MP, Mr Atanga Gilbert who donated the
items on behalf of the MP explained that the MP, who is on an international assignment
upon hearing the unfortunate development, quickly facilitated the donation of
the items.
Mr. Atanga Gilbert appealed to the National Disaster Management
Organization, NADMO, in the Kassena Nankana West District Assembly and the
Ghana Education Service to as a matter of urgency make an intervention to help
solve the problem.
He hinted, the MP
during his thank you tour; identified a number of challenges facing each
electoral area and has outlined plans to address them.
Mr. Atanga mentioned the
distribution of water pumping machines to do dry season farming, rehabilitation
of boreholes throughout the constituency to provide good drinking water supply
and manufacturing of benches to be supplied to various CHPS compounds, and
women organizations in the constituency.
On unity, the MP who is a development
oriented person initiated the organization of Youth galas across the three
zones of the constituency.
The activity which saw the distribution of sports
equipment to fifty Youth groups in the constituency has contributed immensely
to the unity in the area.
Mr. Atanga used the occasion to thank all those who
supported the MP during the electioneering year and his subsequent thank you
tour.
Receiving the items on behalf of
the affected schools, the assemblyman of Tazika-Bagtua Electoral area,
Banalogoyeim Thomas thanked the MP for his intervention.
He assured the MP that
the items will be put into their intended use.
