A mass has been held at the Sacred Heart Parish in the
Navrongo-Bolgatanga Diocese, honor of Dr. and Mrs. Yimbilla, for their fiftieth
anniversary celebration.
The couple who are both septeginerians in their middle
seventies were full of joy as they renew their marital vowel before the altar,
in the presence of the presiding Bishop of WA Diocese Rt. Rev Paul Bamiley.
Bishop Bamiley who said the Mass, was happy to be part
in celebrating the 50th Anniversary of his mate back in school, and
that God strengthen them in their spiritual lives.
According to Dr. Yimbilla a pediatrician, he got
married to his lovely wife on 31st December 1967 after her
graduation from the University and he became a medical Doctor in 1969, 48 years
ago.
The couple celebrated the anniversary as a thanks
giving to God for all the favors and blessings bestowed on them and the entire
family.
They are blessed with three children. In an interview
with to Ura Radio, on the secret of living together, Dr Yimbilla said that men
must study their partners very well right from courtship to marriage, adding
that wealth should not be the focus of any marriage.
He stated as Catholics, husband should practice their
faith seriously. On her part, Mrs Yimbila advised young and would-be couples
especially wives to never to count on the negatives of their husbands but
rather the positive sides and any quarrel in a marriage, angers should not go
beyond six hours.
She indicated further that listening to people outside
the marriage, quarrels that ends up not talking to one another and looking for
wealth from your partner are all recipe for disaster in breaking marriages.
Mrs. Yimbilla stated that children are a blessing to a
marriage but in the event of childlessness, marriage still stands.
In his homily, the Vicar General of the
Navrongo-Bolgatanga Dioceses Reverent Father Gabrial Atidoo likened the
couples’ family to the church saying the couple may be imperfect, they have a
growing family where children from all walks of life are allowed in to the
family to express themselves and learn and that is what has made the family to
grow.
He emphasized that, they were commissioned at baptism to
be ambassadors of Christ and through their fifty years of sacramental marriage,
they have touched many lives.
Father Atidoo added that, it was only proper that the
church join the couple in celebrating their 50th anniversary by
giving thanks and praise to God for the blessings given them.
He prayed for the couples for God’s guidance and
protection in all their endeavors.
